What is PE and Sport Premium?
The Government has pledged to provide funding of £150 million per annum between 2014 and 2020 to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. Schools must spend this designated additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but will have the freedom to choose how they do this. Ofsted will play a significant role in ensuring that schools target this funding in areas which will lead to clear outcomes in raising standards and opportunities.
How Green Oak spends the Sports Premium is documented below.
Funding is calculated using the number of pupils at each school. Primary Schools receive a lump sum of £8,000 plus a premium of £5 per pupil. At Green Oak the funding is £8,523 in 2016-17. There is a carry forward of £6,344 into 2017-2018.
Our vision at Green Oak Primary and Nursery School is that we raise achievement throughout the whole curriculum supported by quality physical education. Every child will receive a high standard of PE teaching as a result of the provision of quality teacher training and resources.
The improved quality of PE teaching and sports coaching will be complemented by investment in good quality resources and in playground equipment so that the improvement in the school’s sports provision is sustained for many years into the future.
