SEND (Special Education Needs & Disability)
At Green Oak C of E Primary & Nursery School, we seek to include all children, whatever their needs. Our site is fully accessible as it is on one level, (please refer to our Accessibility Policy for this information). Our staff have a broad range of experience in supporting a variety of Special Educational Needs.
Our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is Mrs Jill Mills. Her responsibility is to ensure that all of our pupils with a SEND have equal access to learning opportunities and are supported to achieve the very best that they can.
From time to time, children experience difficulty in their learning and when this is the case, we would arrange for them to be supported through a targeted intervention, for example a writing or maths group with a trained Teaching Assistant. Our interventions are well researched and evidence shows that they are successful. We assess our interventions at least termly to ensure we are providing value for money and successful approaches to learning. If, despite targeted intervention, a child experiences continued difficulty, we would seek a more personalised approach through our SEND Support Arrangements. Parents are fully involved in this process and we seek to communicate openly at all times. Children who have a SEND Support Arrangement document are on our Special Educational Needs Register and this information is always communicated to parents/carers.
Our school has links with external agencies who can offer us support and advice for individual pupils. We liaise extensively with health and education colleagues, for example, the Specialist Teaching Service, which includes Educational Psychology, the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) and Speech and Language Therapists.
We would encourage you to read our supporting documentation (links below), which details the provision we have in school and explains how it is arranged.
Please make contact with Mrs Jill Mills if you have any questions relating to the content of this page or if you are concerned about your child.
